The Seed Foundation's Youth Initiatives
in Cape Town, South Africa

On December 1, 1999, The Seed Foundation will travel to Cape Town, South Africa to represent and support the Next Generation (young people ages 16-25) at the 1999 Parliament of The World's Religions. At the Parliament, young people will have their own symposia on urban youth, intergenerational bonds, and sustainable initiatives, as well as access to hundreds of other lectures and workshops.

Based on these encounters, they will create a major plenary session for the 6,000 expected participants which will ensure that their voice be heard by the world's most prominent leaders including the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

Seed's Action Based Youth Initiatives in Cape Town:

  • The Seed Foundation is currently launching an International fund raising effort with the P.W.R. that includes the donation of 1,000 WE ARE ONE Peace Necklaces. The money raised by the sale of these necklaces will provide a means for all interested young people to travel to the 1999 Parliament of The World's Religions and will help ensure that their voice be heard by the World's most prominent leaders.

  • The Seed Foundation, in partnership with The Next Generation and Solar Survival Architecture, will further it's Gifts of Service to the Cape Town community by initiating the first plans to build self-sustainable homes (Earthships). Earthships are made from recycled materials and utilize the natural elements (solar power; windmills) for all of it's energy needs.

  • The Seed Foundation will co-facilitate educational workshops which will be held daily throughout the week. Topics of discussion will be self-sustainable housing, global self-sustainable communities and "How To Be An Earth Conscious Company in The New Millennium".

  • The Seed Foundation will be implementing local outreach programs including feeding the homeless and planting seed in and around Cape Town.
