Brief history of Carl Pizzo (OZZIP) Founder of The Seed Foundation
As an adult, one of my first struggles was to acquire a career path that would not become obsolete. I have been in the computer field since 1973. I went to computer school in Harlem, Opportunities Industrialization Center (O.I.C.), which was taught by I.B.M.
From there, I worked for 4 years as a computer operator for Dun & Bradstreet (N.Y.C.) while I attended high school at New York University. I then left Dun & Bradstreet to work for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey as a Training Analyst teaching data processing courses to union and management.
While there, I attended night college in New Jersey and was studying to become a Doctor of Computer Science.
One night after classes while I was doing my studies, I happened to pick up a newspaper. Only a few years before, Vietnam had ended and now I was reading about Russia invading Afghanistan! Suddenly I found it difficult to contemplate my studies. I asked myself, "Why am I worried about chapter 5, problems 2 and 3, when the World is blowing itself up?". In 1980, I retired my Systems Techician position at BC/BS.
From that day on, my priorities changed. I work for the World. The pay is inferior, but I can concentrate on no other. The Librus Network philosophy had been developed years earlier, but never implemented. When I was young and asked my Mom, "Why where the Protestants and Catholics killing each other in Ireland, they were both Christians?". As I grew older, I observed they were ALL killing one another and they ALL SAID THE SAME MESSAGE IN THE 'GOLDEN RULE! All the children felt the same ~ this was the beginning of The Seed Foundation. As we grew older we did say that - in a necklace
Medical Overview: Carl Pizzo came to Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) in 1992, when his rheumatoid arthritis had progressed to the point that he could no longer compete as a Wall Street "head hunter". His experience in sales and his knowledge of computers made his dreams of opening his own small business very reasonable.
Mr. Pizzo has long been involved in the "World Peace movement". He is widely traveled (particularly in Russia) and maintains contacts throughout the World. Following his strong interest in this area, he created a jewelry design made of charms representing the major philosophies and religions of the World. "We Are One" is the theme throughout his advertising and jewelry design. This is more than a business to Mr. Pizzo ~ it is his life.
VESID, Small Business Administration, and Social Security (Huntingdon local office), assisted Mr. Pizzo through cooperative efforts including the design of a PASS plan, purchase of a computer, start-up supplies, and technical advisement. The computer allows him to design and update advertising and price information, even though his manual dexterity is severely limited from the arthritis.
Carl Pizzo also underwent hip replacements which allow Mr. Pizzo to do more of the "best the pavement" sales that he so loves. Hopes for future expansion into home TV shopper will build on this already thriving business.
Mr. Pizzo's story is one of motivation, spiritual growth through adversity, and continued work toward the philosophical goal of peace and understanding ~ The Seed Foundation.
The Seed Foundation has a plan and The Seed Foundation does not make money from war and death. The Seed Foundation gives 'Hope' because the lack of Hope will kill just as surely as will the bombs.
